Who we are

About the Upper Credit Humane Society

Formed by members of the community who were concerned about animal welfare, the Upper Credit Humane Society (UCHS) got its start in 1991 as the Erin and Hillsburgh and District Humane Society (EHDHS).  The primary focus was the welfare of local wildlife and animal cruelty investigations.

Today, the UCHS is proud to care, protect, educate and serve to provide for the humane care of animals and encourage responsible pet ownership.

With a focus on education and community involvement, the UCHS reinforces its message of responsible pet ownership with an emphasis on safety, respect, care and compassion towards animals.

Since it was incorporated in 2003, the UCHS has found homes for more than 5,000 animals. While the majority of animals at the shelter are cats and dogs, the UCHS also finds homes for other animals, such as rabbits, guinea pigs, chinchilla, rats and birds.

The UCHS receives no funding from the government and relies on the support of donors and volunteers to maintain the operation.

The Upper Credit Humane Society is a registered charity. Our charitable registration number is 893738872RR0001.
