Adoption Process

Our goal is to find the best possible home for every animal in our care. 

If you're interested in adopting, complete an Adoption Profile online or at the shelter to help us find your perfect match.

Not sure which animal is right for you? 

No problem! We'll keep your profile on file for 6 months while you find the right companion.

Schedule a visit to the shelter to meet the animals and speak with an Adoption Counsellor. 

Our adoption counsellor will review your Adoption Profile, help you find the right match for your lifestyle, and answer any questions you have about welcoming a new pet into your home.

If you and UCHS staff agree the animal is a good match, your adoption will be finalized at a second visit, giving you time to prepare your home.

When you pick up your new pet, you'll receive an adoption kit, microchip registration details, and medical records. 

Our team will follow up within 7–10 days to see how everyone is settling in. You're always welcome to contact the shelter with any questions or concerns!

Cats: $290

Senior Cats (age 8+): $190
Kittens: $350

Dogs: $500
Senior Dogs (age 8+): $300
Puppies: $675 

Rabbits: $50 

*Rabbits are not fixed and will have received one vaccine

Guinea Pigs: $30

Rats & Hamsters: $20
